The first exhibition in the Museum Zone of Franjo Tuđman Airport – Stars of Croatian History: The Sky is Their Limit. Get to Know Them! – presents individuals whose legacy makes Croatia recognizable on the global stage. Throughout its rich history and culture, Croatia has produced a remarkably high number of prominent individuals who have excelled in various fields of human endeavor, making both their own and Croatia’s name known worldwide. You’ve likely encountered some of the great figures of Croatian history in town squares, streets, and parks across the country – or perhaps you’ve been unknowingly carrying them with you all along. In addition to their significance to the Croatian nation in the past, their ideas and inventions continue to influence our present and everyday lives.

The Croatian History Museum has selected 24 great Croatians whose contributions in the fields of politics, society, science, culture, and sports have left an indelible mark on Croatia, permanently enhancing its recognition in the world. Through their vision and work, they contributed to the development and integration of the Croatian nation, guiding society toward the ideals of freedom, democracy, and both spiritual and material progress. The accomplishments of these Croatian greats are a lasting testament to their extraordinary spirit, intellect, imagination, and inventiveness – both in Croatia and beyond.
